The role of the coach in the system of sports championship schools

The role of the coach in the system of sports championship schools.

Young people who practice sports attract the attention of not only parents and trainers. Decision-makers at various levels are becoming more and more interested in it, shaping the image not only of our sports reality, but also cultural, economic and political.

State financial outlays for competitive sport, although still modest, they are primarily intended to serve young and talented players. You, in turn, properly selected, they should fulfill their tasks better and better, in order to achieve the highest results in adulthood and effectively conduct sports fights.

The implementation of the general intentions of training younger players outlined in this way should take place against the background of the development trends of sport, not only Polish, but above all world. Competitors, who will win medals in the future now, gradually they must be prepared for:

• participation in commercial sports events arranged by sponsors;

• functioning in the world of professional sport, where independence is important, life wisdom, the ability to observe, thinking and quick decision;

• competition that leads to extreme exhaustion, often dangerous to health and even life;

• participation in scientifically organized and conducted sports training, requiring comprehensive physical and intellectual activity and willingness to cooperate with teams of trainers and consultants;

• constantly subjecting to complicated procedures verifying the process of creating and maintaining their sports form – test, tests, doping control, e.t.c.

These and other tendencies not presented here, however, cannot constitute the most important decisive factor in youth training groups. In terms of technology, training young players is no different from training adults – but this can only be said by adhering to the indicating principle, that the loads must always be adapted to the current capabilities of the trained individual – the latter are definitely different in adolescents and adults, both in terms of quantity and quality of the considered features. This is indicated by ontogenesis – it is enough to mention a few facts, widely described in many specialist and available publications and related to the period of growth and maturation of young people:

• occurrence of a pubertal jump in body height and weight;

• the appearance of temporary "defects" in the functional and motor systems of the body;

• emotional instability;

• the need to perform different social roles than before;

• big – varied in time and within gender – gains in motor skills.

Sports activity of adolescents cannot only be considered in terms of the size and diversity of the dosed loads. These are only associated with training – and with regard to young players, cognitive goals are also important, health and educational issues determining the direction and shape of sports training.

You can even risk a statement, that the educational aspect is even ahead of specific sports goals. Character and moral values are developed in young people. Behavior patterns are shaped through the process of sports training and participation in sports competition, attitudes and values. There is also a very important issue that cannot be forgotten, namely about this, that underage athletes are also students and simply adolescents, who have numerous problems associated with growing up. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the ability to reconcile sports in the implementation of educational tasks in youth sport, science and family and personal matters, consistently observing the proper performance of school duties.

Just training, and not just the training it contains, is the greatest challenge for coaches and instructors caring for gifted youth.

Children and teenagers can pursue their adventure with sport in various organizational units – the simplest ones, which are student sports clubs, higher-level competitive sports clubs as well as sports classes and schools, or in sports championship schools. The latter, due to the functions they are to perform, are a special organizational form. According to the MENiS Regulation of 30 July 2002 r. they concentrate guilty players in one or more sports, implement sports training programs in parallel with the general education program appropriate for a given type of school. There are a number of other provisions in this regulation – all this to ensure the best learning conditions for the most talented young athletes, create optimal base conditions for them, enable participation in national or international competitions in youth categories and, in the future, in the Olympic Games.

The effective functioning of sports championship schools largely depends on education, experience and commitment of the training staff. Do their role, in relation to the coaches involved in sports clubs it is different? And yes, and not. No – because they train in the same way, they fulfill a number of other training functions resulting from mutual contacts in club and away conditions. So – because they train the most talented youth in sports; take care of her all year round in the conditions of a "sports camp"; they are the first people she can turn to in moments of joy and sorrow, being often specifically burdened with serious sports and companionship responsibilities. All this away from the family home, environment of current peers, with limited access to your favorite entertainment.
